Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. Announces the Launch of Its ETF Arbitrage Business with the Appointment of Market Veteran Dan Segal
NEW YORK, Aug. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. announced today the appointment of Dan Segal, formerly of SEG Capital, to launch and build its ETF Arbitrage business based in New York. Cantor Fitzgerald is committed to being a principal trader in the global ETF market by providing customers with competitive two sided ETF markets, encompassing the entire ETF spectrum in full service execution, research and market color. Cantor also appointed Joseph La Grasta, Todd Alberico, and Kanellas Cafcules as ETF Trader/Market Makers. As Managing Director of the ETF Arbitrage Group, Mr. Segal will report to Jarred Kessler, Global Head of Equities.

Most recently, Mr. Segal served as the managing member of SEG Capital LLC, specializing in ETF market making. He was an ETF market maker on the floor of the American Stock Exchange where he focused on trading broad based domestic ETFs and served as an ETF specialist for Goldman Sachs. Mr. Segal successfully transitioned SEG Capital's operations off the floor and expanded the firm's focus to include more complex international ETFs. He has a Bachelor of Science in Management in Finance from Tulane University.
Mr. La Grasta served as partner at SEG Capital trading domestic ETFs and market maker on the American Stock Exchange. Mr. La Grasta previously worked at the Chicago Trading Company tasked with unwinding option risk.
Mr. Alberico, who will focus on International and Currency ETFs, was an ETF Trader at Goldman Sachs, where he made electronic ETF markets. His primary responsibility was to create and implement new strategies focused on U.S. Listed-International ETF products into Quantitative Trading Models.
Mr. Cafcules, who will focus on Fixed Income and Commodity ETFs, traded ETFs at Goldman Sachs in Quantitative Fixed Income and Commodities portfolios. Prior to that, he was an ETF specialist and the supervisor of floor operations on the American Stock Exchange. As a manager for Goldman Sachs, he successfully navigated an extremely difficult regulatory environment while helping to transition the ETF operations off-floor.
